They say life goes quickly, but I can’t believe that it’s close to 25 years since I took my first exciting steps into a recording studio.
My first year and a half in the radio industry was spent at Central FM in Stirling. By the end of the first week, I found myself broadcasting live as the station traffic and travel reporter. Within a few months I was hosting a weekly magazine show, writing and producing commercials, turning my hand to the odd sports report and hosting live on stage events from throughout Central Scotland.
By the time I was finished, I was presenting the Breakfast Show…!
It was very much with a heavy heart that I left Stirling to join the team at Radio Clyde in Glasgow. But it was during my early days here that my love and talent for voiceovers was recognized and developed, with Managing Director and broadcasting legend, Paul Cooney, sending me for one-to-one voice coaching with Jean Moore, the Head of Speech & Drama at the, then, RSAMD.
As Head of Creative, I worked closely with clients and agencies of all sizes, and wrote for all manner of celebrities (my favourites included Joanna Lumley, David Jason, Tamara Palmer-Tomkinson, Brian Cox and Mark Lamarr).
Along the way, dipping my toe in the global creative ring paid off, winning at both the New York International Festivals and London International Awards each time I entered.
Jumping ahead to the present day, I have turned my passion into my profession, and concentrate on using my writing and broadcasting skills to provide clients with a service and flair they won’t find anywhere else.
If you are looking for an experienced Scottish female voiceover, copywriter or presenter, I would be delighted to chat.
